Native Hardwoods

Native hardwoods such as Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Beech, Alder and Cherry influence the Furniture
design and manufacturing @ Bizarre Furniture & Picture Framing. The native timber used by
Bizarre Furniture & Picture Framing can be traced to its location of growth. Each piece of timber
used in our furniture is carefully selected to enhance the overall design and bespoke piece.

European and American Hardwoods

European and American hardwoods are widely available in a variety of species. These hardwoods
are kiln dried to a low moisture content to prevent movement. Species such as American Oak and
White Ash are graded according to their quality.

Softwoods

Softwoods have a wide range of uses. They are often used in supporting structures of large projects
such as staircases, large display cabinets and counters. Hardwoods are often a face material when
softwoods are used in structures, in order to provide a stylish finish. Softwoods such as red wood (pine)
can also be used in manufacturing. They are a more economical material than hardwoods, though
they do not have the unique qualities that hardwoods have.

Laminates

Laminates offer hundreds of textures, solid colour shades and imitation grains of a wide
variety of species. Laminates are durable and hardwearing making them an excellent material for
furniture that is constantly in use. Laminates are fade resistant and easy to keep clean.

Veneers

Veneers are very versatile due to their sheet size. They allow large sections of fitted or free standing
Furniture to be constructed without any visible joins. A wide variety of finishes can be applied to the
veneer.
